Harken, Inc is a manufacturer of material handling products for industrial use including non corrosive winches, block and tackle systems, linear motion track and trolley car systems, and roller furling equipment for large retractable awnings, canopies and curtains.
Snubbing winches are used on very large boats to reduce dynamic loads on winches and to hold loads. High-strength bases feature roller and ball bearings. Gears have between 4 to 8 pawls (depending on winch style) to securely hold the load and minimize backlash.
