Harken Industrial Access Rail and Traveler systems have been tested and CE certified under EN795.2012 Type BD. ANSI Z359, OSHA compliant.
The updated standard is based on the philosophy that anchor devices are rated to sustain the maximum dynamic force generated in a fall from a height by the mass of one person, including any equipment carried. The static strength test is based on a minimum safety factor of two. To allow for the potential misuse of equipment, it also requires that all anchor devices be tested, even if their intended use is for restraint.
Dynamic tests require that a test generate 9 kN at the point of arrest. Static strength tests require that metallic anchor devices sustain a load of 12 kN. Anchor devices that contain nonmetallic load-bearing parts and where no evidence of durability is provided, must sustain a load of 18 kN.
The Harken Access Rail not only met, but surpassed these requirements.
This certification ensures Harken Industrial remains fully compliant with the requirements for working at height anchorage under: The Working at Height Regulations 2005, MGN 410 (M/F) The Merchant Shipping and Fishing Vessels (Health and Safety at Work) (Work at Height) Regulations 2010, and MGN. 422 (M) (Use of equipment to undertake work over the side on yachts and other vessels).
