TROLLEY AND RAIL SYSTEMS – LOW-FRICTION LINEAR MOVEMENT
Harken ball bearing trolley and rail systems provide a smooth, simple way to move loads along a rail. Trolleys feature recirculating ball bearings to reduce friction, require no lubrication, and are designed with an open-ball race for easy cleaning. Stainless wire guides keep ball bearings captive, allowing trolleys to be easily removed for maintenance. Harken rails and trolleys can handle working loads from 5 – 5,000 kg (11 – 11025 lb).

WORK SECURELY AND SAFELY

The Tight Radius rail-and-trolley system is designed to work as an adjustable anchorage point for fall restraint on marine vessels.

Rails are composed of straight and sections curved sections that change direction in both horizontal and vertical planes, allowing trolleys to run exceptionally smoothly around very tight radii and joints.

The system is independantly tested and conforms to EN795.2012 B/D

How does it work?

The TR31 continuous rail and trolley system allows a fully-harnessed crew member, safely tethered to the trolley, to move freely along the rail during inspection and maintenance, or when assisting in pilot transfer.

Rails can be either surface or stanchion mounted and are designed so the user never has to unhook and rehook the tether as he moves around the deck.

Installation and maintenance

The system can be installed either at initial build or as a retrofit.

Flush clean with fresh water and mild detergent. It is important to clean car.
Excessive build-up of grease, dirt, and salt will restrict car movement.

Harken Industrial developed the Long-Span Access Rail (R27LS) as an alternative to its flagship R27 Classic Access Rail system. The R27LS system offers the same strong, free-rolling ball bearing trolleys as the classic, but has a more robust structural profile which can handle longer spans without compromising performance. Support brackets are offered in a variety of styles for ease of installation, and for mounting on surfaces of different types and configurations. Like the Classic Access Rail system, the R27LS can be used for fall protection and for rope access.

The R27LS is used as a safety rail system in many fields (industrial, architectural, civil, etc.) to create a rigid safety line engineered for fall protection and rope access systems.

LOW-FRICTION LINEAR MOVEMENT

Harken trolley and rail systems provide a simple low-maintenance way to move loads smoothly.

The rail is a simple, strong, low-maintenance system on which the load travels. Harken offer 4 sizes of rail.  Select size and length of rail (sizes listed by width measurement of top of rail in millimeters).

Low-beam rail
Choose low-beam rail if it will be supported the entire length.

High-beam rail
Choose high-beam rail for spanning unsupported spaces.

Endstops absorb shock loads and prevent the trolley from coming off the rail.

Curved rail 

Rails can be bent to suit a variety of applications.

Minor bends can often be made when the rail is installed. If the rail requires more bend, Harken can provide horizontal, vertical, or compound curves to specification.

The trolley’s length must suit the track radius to carry the correct load and perform smoothly. If the load requires a long trolley, but the radius is too tight, consider using two short trolley joined by a coupler.

LOW-FRICTION LINEAR MOVEMENT

Harken trolley and rail systems provide a simple low-maintenance way to move loads smoothly. Trolleys feature recirculating ball bearings housed in strong, lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum for dependable, low-friction linear travel. Use for: sliding seats in rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), window-washing apparatus, human suspension systems, hoisting and moving stage equipment, and material handling.

Harken trolleys are available in a variety of sizes and configurations. Standard trolleys come with shackles or toggles for attaching rope or pulleys, but can be ordered without.

Utility trolleys have less sculpting, and no attachments.

Torlon® ball bearings are designed to cope with abrasion, dirt, and salt, and offer higher performance than Delrin® ball bearings. The balls have good elasticity so do not suffer permanent deformation until 70% of break load.

Use for 2:1 to 6:1 purchases. Control blocks let trolleys instantly adjust and release under load. Assemblies secure to the rail, eliminating additional holes.

As the size of a trolley increases so does friction. For higher load assemblies, a coupler can be used to join two trolleys together to spread the load.

A BETTER RAIL SYSTEM FOR MOUNTING SHOCK MITIGATION SEATS

This system is specifically designed for the marine environment, giving you a flexible cockpit layout with fast, hassle-free reconfiguration.

We tested this system over 19.5 kN to meet HSC regulations.

How does it work? 

Seats are mounted on four trolleys that run on parallel rails. Two of the trolleys have pinstops that locate into the holes in the rails. Two trolleys are free sliding.

To adjust the trolley location, simply raise the two pinstops and slide to new location.

Installation and maintenance

Flush clean with fresh water and mild detergent. To reduce friction further, use McLube® high-performance dry lubricant. Do not use oils or greases.

For added protection against corrosion, Harken UK recommends using Tef-Gel® corrosion eliminator on the fasteners when installing the rail.
